 8th grade exams from 1895............*
If you were born before 1945 you can relate-
If you are a baby boomer you will understand-
If you are a young whippersnapper-
read and learn!

The greatest generation was born before......
  • Television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods, Xerox, plastic, contact lenses, Frisbees and the Pill.
  • They were here before radar, credit cards, split atoms, laser beams and ballpoint pens, before pantyhose, dishwashers, clothes dryers, electric blankets and  air conditioners.
  •  Before  civil rights, dual careers and commuter marriages.
  • They got married first and then lived together ( How quaint!)
  • Gay meant to be merry
  • Bunnies were small rabbits and rabbits were not Volkswagons.
  • There was no FM radio, CD's or DVD's, electric typewriters, and computers were outrageous nonsense seen only in science fiction movies.
  • Guys didn't wear earrings and time sharing meant togetherness not vacation condiminiums.
  • Hardware meant nails and doorknobs and software wasn't even a word.
  • Pizzas, MacDonalds and instant coffee were unheard of.
  • They did have Five and Dime stores where you actually bought things for 5 or 10 cents. Also for a nickel you could ride a street car, make a phone call, buy a Pepsi or enough stamps to mail one letter and two postcards.
  • You could buy a new Chevy Coupe for $600 but probably couldn't afford one. A shame when gasoline was 11 cents a gallon!
  • In their day GRASS was moved, COKE was a cold drink and POT was something you cooked in and ROCK MUSIC was what Grandma sang at bedtime .
