Who Serves Us |
|
Many Workers Salem is served by many workers. Some are pastors and teachers who have been called to serve full-time. These pastors and teachers have been thoroughly trained in God’s Word and the Lutheran Confessions in our synod’s pastor and teacher training schools. We are also served by a dedicated staff who care for the secretarial and custodial needs of our church and school. Voters and Church Council Along with Salem’s part-time workers and full-time workers and called workers, Salem’s voters meet every three months to discuss and decide the regular business of the church. The Church Council meets every month to carry out these decisions and to take care of other necessary items of interest. Our Church Council is pictured above. Boards There are also four Boards that support the regular operation of the church: Elders, Deacons, Christian Education, and Church Properties. The elders oversee the spiritual welfare of our members. The deacons act as the financial secretaries of the congregation and coordinate the usher staff. The Board of Christian Education exists to assist parents in the spiritual education of their children. The Board of Church Properties supervise the repair and upkeep of the church’s properties. Altar Guild and Ladies Aid The Ruth-Naomi Altar Guild maintains Salem’s worship space and cares for the chancel area. They prepare the elements for the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The Ladies Aid group meets to encourage each other with God’s Word and to support the mission work of our church body here and abroad. |
