From the Principal’s Desk

The Salem staff wishes you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving season.  As you can see from the length of our newsletter, a lot of things are happening at Salem.  The students and staff are busy. The Terra Nova testing is complete and the first quarter will end on November 4th.  Thank you for all your hard work!

Report cards will be sent home on November 9th and our Parent-Teacher Conferences are on November 12th-13th.  If you have any questions about the report cards or the conferences, please call the school office.

Sit down with your child this week and discuss the quarterly report together and also bring your questions to your conference so that the teachers can help you. We all look forward to seeing you on Thursday and Friday.

We are also beginning to prepare for the children’s Christmas Service.  K-8th grade will participate in one service together on Christmas Eve.  Please look for more information to come home soon.

Thrivent Gift-Matching Program

Our school is enrolled in The GivingPlus Program from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. This is a program that supplements donations to our school.  If you are a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, you have the opportunity to give a gift of money to the school and Thrivent will supplement that gift by an additional fifty percent!  Each Thrivent member in your family can donate up to $600.00, which equates to $900.00 for the school.  Your donation goes into a fund that helps pay for the day-to-day operations of the school.

This program is ending soon.  If you are a Thrivent member and are wishing to make a donation to Salem Lutheran School, please do not procrastinate.  Thank you.

Pioneer News

Fall clean-up is scheduled November 7th from 10am until noon.  Anyone willing to help rake leaves should meet at school at 9:45.  Please bring a rake and tarp if you have one.  This is a good opportunity to help out your community and fellow church members.  There is a Pioneer and Council Meeting on November 2nd.  Also, a regular meeting will be held on November 23rd.

This month’s Pioneer ice cream sale will be held on November 18th.

8th grade class

The 8th grade class is going to carry on last year’s tradition of “hat day”.  On a chosen day, each student may pay 25 cents to wear a hat to school.  The funds will be collected by and benefit Salem’s 8th grade class.

Please keep in mind that your hat may not be too distracting or your teacher will ask you to remove it.  (No oversized hats, bells, etc…)

Look at the calendar for “hat day”, support the 8th grade class, and have some fun!

School Closings
