About the artist
Sally Dillon is a professional fiber artist specializing in quilted silk wall hangings. Her designs are based on the study of nature, particularly geology and geography. Cross-sectional maps, satellite photographs and a lifetime of close observation inspire many of her pieces.
Sally
holds degrees in art from Mount Holyoke College and the University of New
Mexico. (See resume.)
To create her works, Sally stretches the highest quality white silk over
frames, then draws a resist line with wax before applying French dyes
with soft watercolor brushes. The silk is then dried, steamed, washed
and dry-cleaned before being assembled into unique wall hangings.
