M.S. Computational Science, George Mason University, August 2005

B.S. Computer Science, Virginia Tech, May 1993

Scott Mitchell (Sr. Defense Research Analyst) joined ITT at the end of 2005 to support the SLOTS program as the Genetic Algorithm and Artificial Intelligence expert. Since joining ITT he has refined the SLOTS Genetic Algorithm design.

He came to ITT after graduating from George Mason University with a Masters in Computational Science. At GMU he focused on AI topics including the use of genetic algorithms and LEM, a new method of "intelligent" evolutionary computation, to optimize automotive suspension systems, classification of cancer from gene microarrays, and ontology guided intelligent searching.

Before returning to graduate school Scott was a Software Engineer for over eight years in the commercial sector. Projects have included software tools for the analysis and visualization of remote sensing data and developing a statistical language model for the identification of spam email. Mr. Mitchell is experienced in software development and writes code in many languages including C/C++, Java, Matlab, C#, and VB. He received his BS in Computer Science from Virginia Tech.
