RETIREMENT SERVICES
We all want retirement to be the time we turn our attention to pleasurable and fulfilling pursuits, relieved of the burden of earning an income. But we can no longer count on the traditional retirement pensiona paycheck for life. Instead, we each have the very serious responsibility of saving and investing to provide for our own future.
THREE RETIREMENT CHALLENGES
Accumulating enough money: How much money do you need to retire in comfort and security, and still be able to handle unanticipated expenses or an exceptionally long life?
Making good retirement decisions: Retirement is a transition marked by criticaland often irreversibledecisions. Should you, for instance:
- Take a reduced social security benefit early, or wait?
- Take your pension as a lump-sum distribution or an annuity?
- Convert your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA?
Investing retirement savings to provide income: It is an enormous challenge to create a portfolio that will provide the income you need for 20, 30, or even 40 years.
HOW WE HELP
To address the above challenges, we begin with a detailed assessment of your current situation, expectations and goals. From this point we create a base plan that allows us to model the effects of decisions you want to evaluate. For example, whether to:
- Retire at 55 with an early retirement package
- Delay social security to age 70 rather than beginning at 66
- Buy an annuity to provide part of your retirement income
- Purchase long-term care insurance
A base plan with complete and accurate information allows us to identify those decisions that give you the greatest likelihood of living the retirement you want.
In addition to working through decisions like those above, we help you develop either an:
- Accumulation Plan: a plan for investing retirement and after-tax savings to build your next egg; or
- Income Plan: a plan for investing your retirement nest egg to generate the money you need to supplement income from other sources, e.g., social security, pensions, annuities, and possibly a second career.
