How people use Batch files:

"We use Leica reflectorless total station theodolites to produce "as built" floor plan and elevation drawings of existing buildings. We store the measurements as plain text files in a Psion hand held computer (used as a data logger), and embed Visual Cadd two letter commands into the file at the time of measurement. By using the SCALZ batch file import utility, we can load the measurements directly into Visual Cadd, and the result is an auto-created, layered drawing."

"The attached drawing excerpt is the as-built foundation plan for a pile-supported structure. The structure is the subject of an ongoing investigation and therefore the drawing has been heavily edited. The focus here is the leader placement at each of the pile locations, showing Pile Number, Depth and Presumptive Capacity. A considerable amount of time was saved by employing the Batch feature to generate the leaders for the drawing. Points had been placed at each of the pile locations. The points and an example text leader were selected and saved to an ASCII database using the ZMK tool. The command set for the new leaders with the accompanying text were created in the spreadsheet and then exported back to the drawing using the ZMI tool. Even though there was some need for additional editing, the time involved was considerably less than if I had to enter each of the leaders “by hand".

For those who rave about the tools that have been created as add-ons to Visual Cadd, you must explore the capabilities of the new Batch Tool – it provides an enormous degree of added capabilities to Visual Cadd – and you don’t have to learn another programming language in order to use it."
