What is Flip Track?

Fisher-Price introduced a series of toys in the first half of 1990s where the track was roadway on one side and railway on the other. Hence, the name Flip Track.

Knowing that the track would be boring by itself, Fisher-Price also included vehicles representing many forms of transportation: automobile, train, airplane and boat. The different types of automobiles ranged from the family car to the tow truck hauling it in. Aircraft included airplanes, cargo planes, helicopters, blimps... even a space shuttle.

With all these vehicles zipping along, the Flip Track series provided its own set of informational and warning accessories. Let's say there was a drawbridge up ahead... the driver would probably pass a road sign before reaching it, and if the bridge was raised, would be stopped by the crossing gates.

Speaking of drawbridges... many of the larger sets offered larger structures. Tunnels, airport hangers, service station and a mountain also were added to the Flip Track landscape. Fisher-Price also included small buildings with roofs, cranes and their cargo, gas stations and so on.

And not one battery is used to make it work. The Flip Track series is all person-powered, truly making this toy a hands-on experience.
