Church Quarter restoration project , Beaverdam, Hanover County, Virginia
National Theme: 2007-2010 "The Spirit of Hospitality Opens Doors of Opportunity"

May 28, 2009 marked a milestone for Scotchtown Chapter as we celebrated 50 years as a Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. We also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the purchase of Church Quarter. On April 1st 1969 a deed of trust for the loan to purchase the property was signed by the Church Quarter trustees. The first chapter meeting to be held at Church Quarter was on May 22, 1969. In June 1973 a note burning ceremony for the Church Quarter mortgage was held. Our guest speaker, State Regent Bana Caskey, congratulated us on 50 years of success. She applauded our chapter for the hard work and dedication for the restoration and maintenance of Church Quarter. After explaining her State Project of restoration of the Bell Tower located on Capitol Square, she invited each of us to the dedication ceremony to be held in March, 2010 before State Conference. We presented $100 for her project.

A very special THANKS to Carol House for reading 50 years of Chapter minutes and composing a wonderful "History Taken From the Chapter’s Minute Books" and presented to all attendees of our celebration! Extra copies have been printed and will be sold for $5 each, with proceeds going to Church Quarter’s electric fund.
