Musical diversity fosters creativivity. It is in this vein that Scott has spent his career, searching for music to make his own. A lifelong musician, Scott gained his earliest musical experiences growing up on Long Island, New York. Going on to study music at Roanoke College in Virginia, the trumpet and guitar pulled him in increasingly opposed directions: studying classical and jazz performance while also playing guitar for local rock acts including Dave Bernard and Resurrected Sausage. Scott has appeared regularly with the Big Lick Brass, Virginia Folk-Jazz Trio, Halfmoon Band, Plan B, and Dave Bernard & Resurrected Sausage. He has performed the Hindemith Sonata, Hummel Concerto, and Antheil's Sonata for Trumpet and Piano. In 2005 he composed and performed Something Beautiful for Trumpet and Computer. Among others he has performed &/or recorded with Abbey Road Live, Sol Creech, The Seed, Electric Chameleon, and Lance Smith. As an instructor, Scott has instructed hundreds of students, primarily on Trumpet, Guitar and Bass. Favoring a practical approach to music, Scott's students have performed throughout the Roanoke Valley. Scott is available for performances as a soloist or section player in Jazz, Classical, Blues, Rock, and Avant Garde settings. |
