When I was in Arizona
......I bought a horse.
The man who sold it
.....said it was a quarter horse.
What's a quarter horse? my wife asked.
So I said
.....One quarter steer
.....one half mule
.....and the rest horse.
She laughed with a dry ha ha
.....since it was a dry joke.
The horse laughed too.
So we named him Laughing Horse.
And my wife hopped up on the horse
.....and she rode away
into the dry red mountains.
Horses are somewhat famous for laughing.
For example, in The Book of Job
we have the Lord bragging about this marvelous creation of his;
.....the horse
who hears the horn, smells the battle, the thunder and the shouting
.....and saith "Ha, ha!"
From a purely human point of view
..... it's hard to see what's so hilarious
given the rein, the bit hard in the mouth,
.....the bridle, the lacerating spurs, the crop,
.....and all that.
But then, I'm not a horse.
