The Significance of Seishi, Blossom & Triangle:

The Seishi Juku Karate emblem represents "Seishin" "(Sincere / Strong Heart"), ("Strong Mind") and ("Strong Discipline"). The impatiently growing blossom of the japanese plum tree represents the growth of each Seishi student which is strengthened by ("Sanchin")...the three point triangle."Through truthful, honest interaction, learning and sharing, with each other, we can develop respect for ourselves and each other; plus discover our full potential and maintain compassion and integrity within non-violence.

Seishi Juku Karate Philosophy

The Goal of Seishi Juku Karate is the physical, mental and spiritual growth of its students. We are a serious traditional martial arts school of men, women, and children, who are interested in motivating and improving mentally, physically and spiritually. We provide you with the program, supervision and atmosphere that will allow you to realize your full potential for growth and achievement. Three main principles of Seishi Juku Karate training are "Strong Heart," "Strong Mind" and "Strong Discipline."

Competition is with yourself not with others. We are not concerned with being better or worse than someone else. Our concern is that each day, when you leave the training hall, you are a little better than when you came. Seishi Juku Karate training is practical for everyone, Emphasizing progressive development of strength, flexibility, and aerobic capacity. One of the goals of Seishi Juku Karate training is to develop strong bodies, which contributes to health and a general sense of self-confidence and well-being. In addition to developing students with the highest level of physical skills, Seishi Juku Karate aims to develop individuals of the highest moral character. Individuals who can make significant contributions to a better life, in the family, the work place, and in society at large.

We have discovered that our goals are achieved by the integration of Zen into the practice of each and every student. Seishi Juku karate-do is unique because it emphasizes unity and inseparability of traditional karate and Zen (the importance of simple things). . By maintaining and further developing the roots of traditional karate, it has become valuable for men and women in this century and will continue to be valuable in the next.

Seishi Juku Karate and Zen is not taught as a religion. It is a formal practice, which inspires personal growth and has no religious or cult overtones or content. Unlike other martial arts systems ...commitment is with the personal individual practice and potential of the student. Students from all backgrounds train and grow together!

The Samurai, whose lives and values gave so much to karate, strived to develop 'bushido' spirit. Today, our lives are much different from the Samurais', but the Bushido Spirit can still be translated into our milieu. Seishi Juku Karate-do seeks to develop in each student a 'non quitting' spirit. No matter what the obstacle or difficulty -- emotional, physical, financial -- we want students to understand that, though they may be set back, they will never be overcome by any of these problems. The serious practice of Seishi Juku Karate can impress this idea into the individual spirit. This is the modern interpretation of the Bushido Spirit of the Samurai.
