prizes to Nisus because he had the misfortune to fall, and Salius

because he was tripped.

 

12. Aeneas stops the fight. Ancients fought until one opponent could

continue no longer. Sometimes matches ended in death, which is what

Aeneas feared for Dares.

 

13. Entellus, who celebrates by punching the skull of an ox, killing

it.

 

14. Eurytion wins by shooting a flying dove out of the air with his

arrow.

 

15. Aeneas declares Acestes, the king of Sicily, as the winner because

his arrow caught fire in flight and disappeared into the clouds.
