PURPOSE: Promote the arts, facilitate language-arts proficiency development, and stimulate community health among Barstow students and their families.

MISSION: Advise, promote, and fund Stars of the Desert - Barstow’s Youth Community Theatre - so that it can…

o Create exciting theatre experiences, which promote growth, health, and well being while educating, challenging, and inspiring young people.
o Enrich the Barstow community by adding to the arts and entertainment spectrum.
o Help Barstow students overcome learning deficiencies especially in the language arts subject-areas.
o Provide leadership opportunities for Barstow College students and Barstow High School juniors and seniors.

Pay attention to community needs and add programs that complement the youth community theatre in fulfilling Stars of the Desert’s purpose. Examples are a school for at risk students and a community health center for families of school-age children
