

Kids with Asthma: “Kids With Asthma “ project at Metropolitan Hospital Center provides support services and educational workshops in the East Harlem, home to the highest prevalence of asthma in the country As a member of the Metropolitan Auxiliary since 2001 I have raised funds to combat the childhood asthma in that community. My work with the program has laid the path to the United Hospital Fund 2006 recognition award. In addition I had the privilege of introducing Governor Paterson, then Senator as a 2005 honoree of the Auxiliary to celebrate his contribution to ‘Kids With Asthma”.
Haitian Health: Kinship with the Haitian community is simply part of me. So on the radio in Creole I touch thousands of Haitians everywhere. I present an educational discussion centered around a specific medical topic. Anatomy, pathophysiology, treatment, questions and answers are put on the table.
Hamilton Heights educational and social dynamics. I am a member of the 30th Precinct Community Council. Thru that organization I reach out to the schools on career day, I organize and or contribute to health fairs, I stay connected with the police department. I have been a member of the “three O” since 2001.
National Night Out is our big annual party. That night we take to streets to celebrate a crime free night.
Create future doctors: I mentor young people interested in medicine. As a physician of a challenged social extraction and a member of Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a preceptor at Columbia University School of Medicine I strive to create a vision and a plan for young people who dream of embracing medicine as a career especially when they are facing social adversities.
