Hello, my name is Steve. Welcome to my Home Page on the World Wide Web. I live in Lower Burrell, an average sized town in Western Pennsylvania, about thirty minutes north of Pittsburgh. I graduated fairly recently from Edinboro University in December of 1996, with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Media Arts and specifically studied Communication Graphics, known commonly as Graphic Design.

As early as I can remember, I've always had an interest and a fair talent for art. When I was younger I love to draw. I probably started drawing before I started talking. Everybody would tell me that's what I should get into when I got older, so that's what I did. During my college days I dabbled in almost all areas of art, drawing, painting, illustrating, sculpting, ceramics just to name a few. Graphic Design is what I set on for a major. In the last several years I have rediscovered my love of simple pencil drawing. I think it's simplicity is what has really made me grow in love with it.  The one thing that always amazed me about looking at drawing work is how someone with just a pencil, a simple graphite tool that we all use probably everyday to write with, can use it to draw and make something look so beautifully real. That is my main goal when I draw is to capture true reality. Many ask me how do I draw.....all I can say is that I just draw what I see. You have to draw what you really see instead of drawing what you think you see......it's all about your visual perceptions and has nothing to do with how good you can control a pencil with your hand. Anyone who has seen how sloppy my handwriting is can testify to that. Now in the last year or two I've gotten my own little work on the side doing pencil drawings for folks. I mostly get requests to do portraits which has probably always been my favorite thing to draw. It always blows me away when somebody comes and tells me they'll pay me whatever I want, just to draw them a picture. I never thought I would get good enough for people to want me to draw them something and even pay me for it. Who knows where all this drawing and art stuff will lead me, but hopefully the more I do it, the better I will get, and will find more opportunity to use my talents to bring a little joy into peoples lives. What could be better than to sit around all day and draw?

Since about the beginning of 2004 I've discovered another interest that now I've gotten totally addicted to. It is the art of Photography. A lot of the people that know me, probably think I'm crazy with all the cameras, lenses and photo accessories that I've invested in, but there is something about it that I've become completely captivated by. I guess it really began a few years back in 2000 when I got my first digital camera. It was a Kodak 1mp point and shoot camera that in comparison with today's cameras took rather poor images. But with all the conveniences and advantages of digital, it immediately won me over. The ability to take and process your pictures from start to finish is what I like. I took a couple of photography classes in college, which was a lot of fun,  learning the basics and working in a darkroom. The darkroom is what I didn't care for too much with film photography. But with digital, your darkroom is software like photoshop which I absolutely love. So, all thanks to the digital revolution has made me realize how much I truly love photography. Nature and wildlife are the subjects that I've definitely grown the most fondest of. There are so many special moments in nature, if you just spend a little time to try and find them. Whether it be finding a animal or bird you've never seen before or finding a sky or hillside that is lit up beautifully by the sun. In today's chaotic, hurry-hurry society, I find it is such a nice escape to be out in nature just soaking up the beauty around us. It's a past-time that I'm finding is never growing old or boring to me. Photography makes it possible to capture those moments and make them last a lifetime in a simple photograph....to me that is so invaluable. If you see my current photography gallery page, which you can find the link on my gallery page, and are wondering what kind of camera I use to take all those colorful, sharp pictures with. It is the Nikon D70. Most of my pictures are taken using a 18-35mm lens, 24-85mm lens, 80-200mm lens and a 300mm lens. Anyone interested in purchasing a Nikon, I highly recommend them. They make wonderful cameras and lenses and are built to last.

You can also describe me as being somewhat of a computer geek. I got my first semi-real computer when I was 12 years old, the dinosaur, the Commodore 64. It had no hard drive, no modem, no cd-rom, no video card, no audio card and only 64k of memory, but I sure did love that machine. So many hours were spent playing computer games and learning a little basic programming. I'm currently using a HP Pentium 4 - 1.8ghz machine. It's getting a little on the old side but it still does all the things I need. In 2005 I finally got myself a decent photo quality printer in the HP Photosmart 8450. With all the art and photo work I do, I was finding that with my old printer my images were beginning to fade after awhile. The 8450 has archival inks so all my prints will last a lifetime. It has a nifty card reader so I can do photography at events and make prints on site. HP was never known with there outstanding printers but this one matches up with the best.
