Final 2010 Budget Adopted
On October 20th, 2009, subsequent to the public hearing on the proposed 2010 budget, the Board of Commissioners
adopted the final 2010 budget for the Selkirk Fire District with no further amendments.
Here's a link to the 2010 Budget (adopted as final on 10/20/09):
The Selkirk Fire District was established in 1928,
and it is situated in the Town of Bethlehem.
It encompasses an area of roughly 29 square miles,
and has an estimated population of 8,500 and growing.
Among the more unusual property in the District
is the famous Selkirk Rail Yard, which is probably the largest
such facility in the eastern USA, and several large industrial sites.
The district also includes about seven miles of Hudson River frontage,
and consequently, the district operates a rescue boat as well.
There are also about eight miles of NYS Thruway within the district,
which tends to keep Company #1's heavy rescue truck (R-46) rolling quite a bit.
There were 336 fire calls in the Selkirk Fire District in 2007.
