Angermeier, Hayman Combine To Handcuff Bedford

BEDFORD: Adam Angermeier (5-0) threw five strong innings allowing only two runs (one earned) while striking out five in Somerset’s 10-2 victory over Bedford on Thursday.  He gave up four singles and four walks.  Tyler Hayman threw the final two innings.  He allowed two hits in the scoreless innings.

Bedford jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first.  However, Jordan Kaufman hit a one-out solo homerun in the second to even the score.  The homerun was Kaufman’s second of the season and the first of his three hits in the game.

After Bedford scored an unearned run in the second, Somerset scored two runs in the third to take a lead that they would never relinquish.  Zach Deist, Alex Lenhart, and Drew Shaulis hit consecutive singles to lead off the inning.  Deist scored on Shaulis’ single, and Lenhart scored on a bases loaded walk to Tyler Uphouse.

The score remained 3-2 until the sixth when Somerset broke the game open with seven runs on six hits, a walk, and a HBP.  Shaulis, Uphouse, and Kaufman all ripped two-run singles for the Eagles.

Somerset (11-1) will host Bellefonte on Friday at 4:00.
