SOMERSET: Despite the lopsided loss to
Bellefonte, the Eagles were proud to celebrate the life of Somerset High School
alum Todd Parker during the Friends For
Life activities on Friday.
The
Golden Eagles’ struggles began with the first batter of the game. Matt Truesdale (3-4 with a homerun) led off the
game with a double versus Somerset’s starter Andy
Harvey. Seth Tressler (3-4) and
Cody Young (3-4) both singled ahead of Zach Robbins’ homerun. The Eagles trailed 4-0 before coming to bat.
Bellefonte
added four more runs in the second, one in each of the third and fourth
innings, and four more in the fifth.
Bellefonte slugged four homeruns (Truesdale, Robbins, Tyler James, and
Jeff Lucas) and fifteen hits in the game.
Meanwhile,
Cody Young held the Eagles off of the scoreboard during the five inning
game. The Eagles managed only three
singles. The Eagles loaded the bases
with one out in the fourth, but Young was able to strike out the final two
batters to end Somerset’s only threat of the day. Young struck out five and walked three.
Tyler
Hayman and Alex
Lenhart relieved Harvey. Hayman
threw 2 2/3 innings and Lenhart relieved him in the fifth.
Somerset
(11-2) will host Clearfield
on Saturday at Noon.
