SOMERSET: Sophomore Landon
Wahl turned in Somerset’s second consecutive complete game gem to help the
Eagles win their league-leading tenth game of the season. Wahl only allowed five hits and one
walk. He struck out seven, and yielded
only one unearned run to earn his third victory of the season.
Opposing
Wahl was Penn Cambria’s C.J. McCoy.
McCoy also threw a complete game five hitter. He walked two but did not strike out a batter.
Somerset
scored the first run of the game in the second as Adam
Angermeier singled inside the first base bag, stole second, advanced to
third on a balk, and scored on a groundout by Andy
Harvey.
Somerset
added a run in the third when Zach
Deist led off with a single to left.
He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alex
Lenhart, and scored on a double to right by Drew
Shaulis.
Somerset’s
final run of the game came in the fourth.
Angermeier led off the inning with a double to right, advanced to third
on Jordan
Kaufman’s groundout to the right side, and scored on another groundout by
Harvey.
Penn
Cambria’s only run of the game came in the sixth when Doug Plunkett walked,
advanced to third on a single by McCoy and scored on an errant throw. Other than the one blemish, Wahl dominated
the game by repeatedly getting ahead of the hitters.
Somerset
(10-1) will travel to Bedford
on Thursday at 4:30.
