Somerset Rebounds For a Dominant 14-3 Victory Over Westmont


WESMONT:   The Somerset Eagles rebounded from their lopsided loss to Tyrone to club Westmont 14-3 on Monday.

 

Somerset’s starting pitcher, Adam Angermeier, threw four shutout innings to lead the Eagles to their sixth consecutive league victory.  Angermeier allowed only three hits while striking out ten Westmont batters.  Angermeier did not walk a batter.

 

Tyler Hayman threw the fifth and final inning for Somerset.  He allowed three runs, although only one run was earned.

 

Jordan Kaufman and Tyler Uphouse led the Eagles on offense with three hits and three RBI’s each.  Kaufman had two singles and a triple, and Uphouse had three singles.  Centerfielder Drew Shaulis ripped two singles and scored two runs.  Zach Deist added a triple for the league leading Eagles.

 

Ten different Eagle batters had at least one hit in the game, and the Eagles only committed one error in the field.

 

Somerset sent 15 men to the plate in the fifth inning as they scored nine runs to put the game away.  Seven different Eagles singled in the inning.

 

Paul Vrabel doubled for the lone extra-base hit for Westmont.

 

Somerset (6-1) will host Bishop Carroll on Wednesday at 4:30.
