Mr. Baxendale worked in the Mossman plant from 1974-1977. Then he worked at Gruhn guitars in Nashville Tennesee from 1978-1981. He built guitars for Carl Perkins, Joe Walsh, Willie Nelson, John Mellancamp, James Burton, Donovan, Greg Lake, Ray Willie Hubbard, Jorma Kaukonen, Chris Hillman, Dave Alvin, John Kay, and Travis Tritt.
Several Mossman History sites state that Mr. Baxendale purchased Mossman guitars in 1986. In truth, Baxendale purchased Mossman Guitars from Stuart Mossman in August of 1985. He sold the company to John Kinsey in late 1990.
Between 1985 and 1990, he made 250 guitars (not the 100 as has been suggested.) The Mossman factory produced a little over 5000 guitars. We also know there were a number of instruments built by Stuart Mossman before he started his company.
If anyone owns a Baxendale instrument built between August 1985 to 1990 please send pictures and a write up.
