Crisfield Fire Department
Station #2

photography Page

Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.

Somerset Co. Station 19002

Burr!

It was a cold Sunday morning in February, 1959. As the Grants Co. building was gutted by fire, The morning alarm damaged the main and second floors of the building. The store remained closed until the new building opened in the early 1960's    This photo was taken in the front of the building with Ladder # 5 in full service.

This company picture was taken in front of Ladder #5 a 1947 700series American La France mid mount aerial ladder. The date is 1953 in front of the Broadway station, probable on a Sunday morning before church service. This was when most of the company pictures were taken

Sending Help

This photo shows companies working together On this fire on Somerset Ave. in Princess Anne  To most members memories it was around 1968 in what would now be the PNC offices, In the background of this picture is, You Guessed it Ladder #5 Crisfield full extension and working to maximum capacity. And for you History scholars, the engine in the foreground of this picture is Station 2's engine #3, latter Engine 203 (see apparatus page).   Working together for the good of our communities.

Fireman Grover C. Adams Sr.

Fire fighter Grover Adams the bicycling fireman, Adams never owned a drivers license. But for over 50 year responded to fire alarms year after year, until his death in the spring of 1969 while on a fire scene of an apparent heart attack.   How was this feet accomplished? By using the bicycle seen in the photo here. Yes if you look closely you'll see his siren and flashing red light mounted on the handle bars!

OK Here We Go Again

Everybody had so much fun with the last one. Even DC Bradshaw, Thanks Bobby for being the first victim!      We everyone loves a game of pool, especially the four guys. This picture was taken upstairs in the game room of the old Broadway Station, best guess is about 1957.  They should be easy to pick out. ( Hint: none of them are President Hickman)
Left to Right are Reggie Wilson Sr., Robert "Bob Lee" Tawes, Kenny Evans & Phil " Tater" Howard

Something very special

This picture is a look into the past! although the Crisfield fire service was established in 1874, through the years many changes took place.  Like the reorganization to the Crisfield Fire Department Company No. 1 as this record of their first meeting on Tuesday January 16th, 1912 will show. The start of something great in the city of Crisfield!

We need your help! We are always looking for pictures of the Crisfield Fire Department in action of fire's in the local area. Any one with pictures that we could scan or copy would be dearly appreciated. If you can help contact Dean Goldsborough at Goldsborough's Marine or email us at cfdst2@verizonmail.com . Thank you!
