Children's Liturgy of The Word
|
Every Sunday the children gather with their
families in the church at the 10:30 a.m. Mass as is normally done. At a designated time after the Welcoming and Opening
Prayer, the children will be invited to come forward to the sanctuary
steps. They will be “sent forth” with our Blessing and be
lead to the vestibule for the first part of the Mass: The Liturgy of
the Word. They will experience the Liturgy of the Word on their (a
child’s) level of understanding.
The
Leader will proclaim the Readings and the Gospel from the Children’s
Lectionary. The Leader will then teach the message of the Gospel
to the children. The Leader will also lead the children in the
Prayer of Faithful. The children are asked to pray for someone who
they believe needs their prayers.
Finally,
the children are sent back to their seats prior to the procession of
the gifts.
