HOW DOES SOMEONE BECOME A CATHOLIC?
|
Individuals never baptized enter the Catholic Church by receiving the sacrament
of Baptism at the Easter Vigil Liturgy. Other baptized Christians
enter the Church by a simple Profession of Faith at the same
ceremony. Those wishing to come into the Church participate in a
program of inquiry and discernment called the Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The R.C.I.A. Program begins in September and continues to the Easter
Vigil in the spring. Sessions continue to meet during the Easter
season (April).
WHEN DO CLASSES MEET?
We meet on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. Mass and are dismissed after the
Liturgy of the Word. The group goes to the Church Hall for their
sessions.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE UP MY MIND BEFORE I ATTEND THE SESSIONS?
No. Our program is designed for inquirers. We want to answer your
questions and be helpful in the decision making process. We realize
that not only do you need to know something about our faith, but also
to experience the Catholic Church in its diversity and richness to
make that decision. The decision to become a Catholic is best made
in stages, as those participating progress in their spiritual life.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET STARTED?
Contact
the Parish Office (410-355-5740) to express your interest in the
program. A registration form will be sent to you and once you return
it to the Parish Office, information will be sent to you in
September.
WHAT IF I CANNOT MAKE THE CLASSES?
Please call us so we can explore other possibilities with you.
