Saint David's Court October Birthday Celebration

Members of the parish are invited to celebrate October birthdays of our friends at Saint David's Court. We'll be meeting at Saint David's Court, at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 25. Games and food and fun will be part of the celebration.

St. David's Court is a Christopher Community in East Syracuse, New York for residents with mobility challenges. St. David's Church has a long-standing relationship to Saint David's Court, going back to its founding. We recently sent some birthday gift bags and are planning a visit by our children's group. Non-perishable food items and baby formula are always needed for the Springfield Gardens pantry.

Items are collected near the Parish Office.

Items most needed:

  1. canned fruit
  2. canned vegetables
  3. pasta
  4. rice
  5. cereals

and supporting:

Food Bank of CNY - Using surplus commercial food to feed the hungry

Meals on Wheels - Delivering meals; allowing folks to stay in their homes.

PEACE, Inc. (Little White House of Hope) - Helping local people achieve self sufficiency.

Outeach Projects throughout the year

Springfield Gardens - Saint David's supports this low income housing complex in many ways, coordinating with the Town of DeWitt's People in Action.

  • Food Pantry - Donations can be placed in the basket outside the Parish Office. Non-perishables, including infant formula, are requested.
  • Christmas party -This popular event is hosted by the Saint David's Youth Group for children from Springfield Gardens.
  • David Klim Learning Center - This building has been recently been completed with the help of donations from Saint David's and benefits given by our interim organist, Steven Seigart.
  • Tutors - One-on-one relationships are maintained by volunteers, beginning with homework help.

Samaritan Center
This year's dates: (Sundays) August 30 and December 6
Housed in the basement of the Episcopal Cathedral downtown on Montgomery Street, the Samaritan Center serves hot meals to the hungry. Local churches serve the meals on Sundays at 1:30pm, after arriving around noon to help set up. Nancy and Rick Caruso shop for, prepare the meals and organize St. David's volunteers for this very rewarding way to serve the community.

The Samaritan Center welcomes donations of money. or items on their wish list, you can sponsor a meal in someone's name or volunteer thoughiout the year. Check out Help the Samaritan Center for more information.
