Here are brief descriptions of the key staff positions for the Cachuma district. We team with the Live Oak district for
training, a merit badge pow-wow, and an annual camporee.
District
Chairman (all year)
Main duties are to oversee the Membership and Finance committees. Oversees the monthly District Meetings, where we measure our status towards annual
goals in each of the 6 committees
District Commissioner (all year)
Main duties are administration of unit commissioners and to ensure
the good health of all of our Packs, Troops, and Crews and to oversee the annual charter renewal process. Oversees the health of all of the units of the district through Unit Commissioners.
Unit Commissioners (all year)
Each month, visit one unit meeting and check in on the status
of the unit. Report unit status to the District Commissioner. Oversee the annual charter renewal process. Oversee 1-3 Scouting
units.
District
Training Chairman (all year)
Main duty is to maintain training records to ensure all top leaders
(Cubmasters, Scoutmasters and Crew Advisors) have been trained. To encourage
all unit leaders to attend training for their specific job within their Scouting unit. Work with Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and
Venture trainers from the Live Oak District.
District
Membership Chairman (all year, mostly Fall)
Develop a plan with each unit to encourage new membership. Look for gaps in grade
level within each unit and help develop a plan to recruit the appropriate number of youth for each grade:

District Advancement Chairman (all year)
Monitor the advancement reports to ensure each of our units have
a program that encourages advancement. When needed assist Scoutmasters in convening
Eagle rank board of reviews. Maintain an accurate Merit Badge Counselor List.
Trains merit badge counselors.
District
Activities Chairman (all year)
Monitor
when all local parades, festivals and area functions are to encourage unit participation in each.
Camporee Chairman
November – April
Assemble
a committee of Boy Scout Leadership to plan and build a camp out where Scouts compete by Patrols with Scout Skills.
Scouting For Food Chairman December-February
Coordinate
bag drops and food pick up plans for all of our units.
District Finance Chairman (all year, mostly Spring)
Develop a financial plan
that includes every unit and community business to ensure financial giving meets or exceeds our district finance goals.
Popcorn Chairman (Mostly Fall)
Ensure each of the participating
units have done the “Ideal Year of Scouting”. Assist unit develop
an annual fundraising goal.
Family Friends of Scouting
Chairman (November – June)
Assist each unit develop
a unit goal of charitable giving. Schedule a presentation for each of the units. Develop a team to deliver a presentation to each unit. Plan a kick off and victory celebration.
Community Friends of Scouting
Chairman (November – June)
Develop a team I-C-5 plan
for all potential givers from the business community. Plan a kickoff and victory
celebration.
Camp Promotions Chairman (all year, mostly Spring)
Encourage all of our units are going summer time camping.

Ensure all Cub Scout Packs are going to Day Camp and earning the
Summertime Pack Award.

Ensure all Boy Scout Troops are going to a long term Boy Scout
Summer Camp.

Ensure all Venturing Crews participate in a Summertime Super Activity
