Sunday Worship
We gather on Sunday to celebrate Holy Eucharist. Eucharist is an ancient word that means "thanksgiving." It is the sacrament commanded by Christ for the continual remembrance of his life, death, and resurrection, until his coming again. We believe that the bread and wine in Eucharist are the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace given to Christ's people and received by faith. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion in the Episcopal Church. Our principal worship service is at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. It uses contemporary language and follows Rite II of the Book of Common Prayer. Contemporary music and hymn singing are a part of this service. Children and youth may leave for Sunday school during the time when the scripture lessons are read and the sermon is preached. They return before the Offertory and Communion. Nursery care is provided during this worship service. A service using traditional language takes place on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. It follows Rite I of the Book of Common Prayer. Music is not normally an element of this service. Nursery care is not provided during this worship service. Choir and MusicMusic is an integral part of the 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning Celebration of Holy Eucharist as well as the Holy Days of the Church year. We are blessed to have a talented musician who plays with grace and skill. Under Ms. Tanya Pellecchia's direction, the adult choir leads congregational singing as well as performing special choral arrangements on Sunday. The adult choir rehearses at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning in the Hurll Room. Ms. Pellecchia also directs a youth choir for children ages 5 and older. The youth choir rehearses from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday, following the principal Sunday Service. |
