My Lord, what
have you done to me?
I stand beside my bride-to-be,
And shepherds come, the babe to see,
But where do I fit in?
My lord, they honor him and her
With gold and frankinsense and myrrh;
The prophesies will now occur,
But when do they begin?
He will need someone strong but gentle
To help him to understand
How to live in your world as he changes
From a babe to a boy to a man.
He will need someone near his mother
To show him the things he can do,
Catching fish from the sea or perhaps carpentry,
both are work that is blessed by You.
Who will stand in Your stead
In the years ahead?
Do I know who Your proxy will be?
Oh, I see ... is it me?
My Lord, You have removed the mask;
I now know what it is You ask.
Please help me as I face this task:
To raise the Son of God.
