Notes on Liturgy
At the 8 and 10 a.m. services we offer the healing rite in the chapel behind the pulpit. It offers a chance to ask for prayers for healing, using the biblical tradition of the laying on of hands, as set forth in the Book of Common Prayer (page 456). Any who would like to take part in the healing rite are invited to go to the chapel directly after receiving communion. If someone is already there receiving a prayer, simply wait outside the railing. If you have questions, please feel free to speak to the clergy. If you have a prayer request for next week’s bulletin, it may be placed in the book in the south narthex or you may call the church office. The Men’s Lunch Group will meet this Wednesday at 12:10 for the Eucharist and then go to a local restaurant for lunch. Please contact Al Wellauer if you plan on attending. (83-8937) UTO (United Thank Offering) will be received next Sunday at both services. Anyone interested in the mission trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast July 22-29 should contact Jan Lamb (jlamb@verizon.net or 489-9977) for more information Please have your name and $100 deposit to the church office by June 1 to secure your place in the group. Further plans will be made in early June with the group that will be going. Adult Forum begins a three-week series on today led by Anne Hodges-Copple on “Preparing for General Convention 2006”. wish a confirmation picture with the Rt. Rev. A.C. Marble, Jr., please
go to the montage of the St. Luke’s Bell in the Sprague Room and you
will see copies of pictures taken with each St. Luker and the Assisting
Bishop on Wednesday night. Please note that all pictures were
taken with you kneeling. If you wish the picture, please e-mail
jwyman@nc.rr.com and John will email a .jpg attachment of the picture
you choose. A special thanks to Joan Hodges, Camille Marlowe, Debbie Carter and Karen McDaniel for their work on pulling together the confirmation dinner and to Peter and Marleen Taflan and their committee for the reception after the Confirmation Service. Please make sure you look for Waldo in our Church Photomontage in the Sprague Room. Everyone who had their picture taken for our Church Directory this year is in this montage. If you DO NOT wish to be included in this specific picture, please write your name and telephone number on the “sign up” sheet and you will be excluded. Any questions should be directed to John K. Wyman – 471-6405. “Feeding the Flock” - Copies are still available and can be purchased for $12 each through the church office. For those of you that wish to order Frank DePasquale’s new booklet, please write a check for $5 payable to the Episcopal Diocese, c/o Environmental Committee, give the check to Kathy Barnes, and she will get the necessary copies from Frank. Check out the Lost and Found box located in the Sprague Room. There are quite a few interesting items that have been “found”. |
Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) 7th Annual Golf Marathon will be held on Monday, June 5. All proceeds will be used by the Durham IHN to help families obtain stable, long-term housing.
