accept, celebrate, and share God's love
Our Mission
To joyfully celebrate Christ's teaching, to accept God's amazing grace, to share God's blessings and to minister with all God's people in global ministries.
Our Vision
Our vision is that because God loves us, we will achieve, in this community, a tangible portion of Jesus' Great Commandment: To love God with all our heats and souls and strength and mind and our neighbors as ourselves.
In loving God with all our hearts and souls, we seek to remember the joyful presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and to love and nurture one another as we seek to make disciples of ourselves and others.
In loving God with all our strength, we undertake to live out our belief that the church not only has a role in today's society, but an obligation to play to leading role to remind both our citizens and leaders of what "the better angels of our natures" demand of us, in matters large and small.
In loving our neighbors as ourselves, we pledge to reach out to the sick and those in need, to continue in the warm spirit of ecumenism and to witness by work and word to our responsibility to care for and love all members of the family of God without regard to religion, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, or physical condition.
Our Action
Guided by God through prayer, we daily renew our commitment to remain an active, Christ centered congregation.
We nurture each other in fellowship, togetherness and fun, warmly welcoming newcomers. United Methodist Women, Disciple Bible Study, Youth Fellowship and prayer and share groups are arenas for working, studying and praying together.
Families are an integral part of our activities as we include children as important members of our fellowship. In this, we are inspired by an active Sunday School led by creative, dedicated teachers.
God's gifts are manifest in many ways. Sunday morning worship services celebrate Word and Sacraments. Special musical and drama presentations are inspiring. Guest speakers challenge us to ministries in daily life, sharing ways we can reach out to communities near and far.
While we recognize the problems going into the 21st century are daunting, we yearn and learn to be part of the solution.
As members of the Body of Christ, our commitment to ministry is shared through the United Methodist connection and other ecumenical bodies. The Cooperative Christian Ministries of Schodack, the Albany United Methodist Society, Emmanuel Faith Community Center, Church Women United, the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Covenant Relationship with a Missionary, Global Mission Partners and World Service and Conference Benevolences give breadth to our global concerns.
The beautiful facilities of Saint Paul's are a blessing to be made available to the community as a resource for meetings and for cultural and social gatherings.
We recognize there is yet much to be done. Guided by our faith in God and each other, with Jesus' example before us, we choose to start here.
