Kanga is from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In 1999 she moved to Ohio, USA, and was married there in 2000. While in Ohio, Kanga worked at a buffet restaurant, and worked her way up to food bar manager.
Following the death of her husband, Kanga returned to Brisbane in 2007 to be near her children and other family.
