Our channel is for light, good-natured chat by mature adults. We prefer not to have a long list of dos and don'ts. Our management is here to have fun, not to act like the proverbial strict nuns at an elementary school. We will intervene only in case of severe disruptions. With that in mind, we request that you observe the following guidelines so we all may have an enjoyable time in #OurGang:
Mutual Respect. Our channel runs by the Golden Rule. Treat others as you wish to be treated. We welcome people of all races, religions, and beliefs (spiritual and political). We will not tolerate bigotry, racial or other slurs, or general belittling of anyone.
Language. Civil language is appreciated. Occasional mildly-colorful language is OK (we are experienced adults who have heard it all), but extreme profane language is not permitted. If you feel the need, kindly use milder versions such as "chit," "a--," and "f***." In addition, please be aware some of our members hold strong, deep religious beliefs. No one will try to convert you, but please respect the beliefs of others, and avoid using references to Deities as expletives.
Lurking. When you visit us, please participate. Lurking is not permitted. Everyone is quiet now and then, but please give us an occasional response or reaction so we know you are still with us. If you need to leave temporarily for more than 5 minutes, kindly change your nick to show your status, such as "YourNick-brb" or "YourNick-phone."
Parking. If you will be away from the computer for an extended period of time, please leave the channel. We do not allow people to park or camp in the channel overnight.
Clones. Multiple connections from the same location are not allowed by Starlink-IRC rules. We love seeing you, but one of you is enough.
