Ornithological Abstracts

This is the page where I'll describe myself in more detail.

I was born 12/19/63 (age 41 on 10/3/05). I am of medium height with brown eyes and hair (Caucasian), medium build, and of "average looks". I have a full beard with some white hair. I am disabled and on limited US federal government income.
I hope to reenter college in the spring for an Associate's of Science in Biological Science. I've had approximately 2 years of college at 2 private liberal arts colleges. Whether I go on from there depends on my health. I dream of a doctorate in ornithology or wildlife ecology or management someday, no matter how old I am.

I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I have lived in the Lehigh Valley, PA, near Hawk Mountain, since 1987. I enjoy American and English literature (old and modern), history, and tasteful humor. I am a Quaker and a Christian. I enjoy watching baseball, hockey, and American and world footballs. I like to bike, birdwatch, swim, golf, and take walks with friends.

What a hobby!

One thing I'm frustrated with is that I am not a population scientist- i.e., it seems that everytime we concentrate on conserving a species, it seems fruitless under the shadow of the more pressing sustainability issues: but they are not as fun as working with the animals. Someday we are going to have to tie-in conservation with solving humanity's problems of overpopulation and overconsumption- if not now. But as I said, that simply is not as fun for the organismal biologist!
