For those of you sick enough to want to know how many Death Watchers picked certain would be mulch, this page is for you. The Guys at the O.B.E. have slaved and toiled with compass, slide rule, abacus and twelve pack to come up with these numbers. So, with little further fanfare, here they friggin' are:

Death Watchers from 34 states in the U.S. are playing as are players from four countires outside the U.S. The states represented and the number of Death Watchers from each are: AL (2), AZ (1), CA (14), CO (4), FL (7), GA (1), ID (1), IL (6), IN (4), KS (1), LA (4), MA (9), MD (7), ME (2), MI (6), MN (3), MO (5), MS (1), NC (1), NH (1), NJ (26), NY (9), OH (6), OR (4), PA (4), SC (2), SD (1), TN (3), TX (9), UT (1), VA (7), WA (1), WI (5), WV (1). The countries reprensented and the number of Death Watchers from each are: Austalia (4), Canada (4), England (4), and Germany (1). Finally, one Death Watcher plays from a U.S. military vessel. We have no idea where he may be at at this point in time.

173 lists were entered into the 2007 Old Blue Eyes Memorial Celebrity Death Watch. This should result in a total of 2,249 total names entered. However, 3 players entered lists that were short one pick. In addition 1 poor slob had both Gerald Ford and Saddam Hussein on their lists. They got to play the alternate but are still 1 position short. That means a toal of 4 lists are playing with only 12 picks. That also means that 4 pick postions have been eliminated, making the adjsuted total picks 2,245.

Speaking of alternate picks, 18 entries had Gerald Ford listed before he died in 2006, evoking the alternate. In addition 9 entries had Saddam Hussein listed before he died in 2006. 8 of those lists evoked the alternate. 1 such list also had Gerald Ford meaning a blank position is left on that list.

Of the 2,245 total picks entered, 562 different celebrities were picked to eat it by the end of 2007. The issue, as always, is that a handful of them had already eaten. Yup, 5 entries had a celebrity pick that was already dead (one each: Red Skelton, Jan Murray, Enos Slaughter, Roberta Weston, and Elisabeth Israel). That means we adjust the total active picks down to 557 different celebrities.

To recap, that's 173 entries listing a total of 557 individual celebrities picked to croak.

Of the 557 celebrities picked to buy the farm, 321 (57.7%) were on only one list (the Tad Szulcs), 82 (14.7%) were on only two lists (the double whammies), 53 (9.5%) were on three or four lists (the mortage a trois) and the remaining 101 (18.1%) were on five or more lists.

The number one pick this year was FIDEL CASTRO, bless his little Commie soul. The cigar chomping red appears on 106 (61.3%) lists . Coming up next in line is LADY BIRD JOHNSON. The Birdster appears on a meaty 78 (45.0%) lists. Our third most frequent pick was ARIEL SHARON. ARIEL appears on 62 (35.8%) lists.
