Historical Background

Alpha Omega Tutoring services began in the year 2002 with main focus on teaching students the Greek language. The founder of Alpha Omega Tutoring Services is Elisabet Tassis. The parents of students were in need of after school help for their children who were learning the Greek language at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, MD.  The Greek school director of St. George began referring parents to Elisabet.  Elisabet had graduated top of her Greek School class, excelling in speaking, reading and writing the Greek language.  Almost every year Elisabet spends her summer in Greece, interacting with the native students and local population. The school director felt confident that Elisabet was well versed in all aspects of the Greek language to be able to teach children from kindergarten through seventh grade with great success. Elisabet accepted the challenge head on, and Alpha Omega Tutoring services was born.  Gaining parent satisfaction, in seeing their children progress in the Greek language, word of mouth referrals spread and clientele began to increase over the years. The Alpha Omega Services began to diversify from teaching just the Greek language, to other subject areas. Due to the extreme satisfaction of our clients, all students that attend Alpha Omega Services are through referrals.

Philosophy

“Children need to feel comfortable with their tutors.  Children need to speak their mind and not be afraid of making mistakes.  Children learn from their mistakes.  I have been tutoring students of all ages now for 7 years and know how to make them feel at ease.  I can relate to them because I also used to be in their shoes. Students learn better from other students who have gone through the same classes. I believe that when a student is comfortable with their tutor, they are in a healthier environment to learn and retain information and feel great about themselves and their accomplishments.  Our goal is to make them confident in their work, bring out their abilities and become independent without the need of a tutor.”
