There are basically three different snorkels to cover this range of engines and years. The first was used on 68 and can be identified by its just under 9 inch length and large 2 3/4 inch hole on the bottom for the heat stove and the lack of a vacuum motor over ride. This is a C8AZ-9A626-A and was used on 68’s made before 4/2/68.
The second was used from mid 68-71 on cars builtfrom 4/2/68 and is identical to the first one but has a vacuum over ride motor on the bottom. This is a C8AZ-9A626-D
The last is a less common snorkel that shares all common characteristics of the first except has a small 2 inch hole on the bottom for a paper hose. This is a D0AZ-9A626-A |

Special Notes: 289/302 snorkels are often confused with 351W snorkels but it is easy to tell the difference. The 351 snorkel is just a little longer and the difference is where the flange is welded to the end. The 351 is slightly longer and can easily be seen from the bottom where a 289/302 has a small raised limiting bump and the 351 has a large one. This bump was to help the assembler make the snorkel and limits how far in the flange could be inserted. |

Please note that there has a been a correction on this page as I had reversed the identity of the C8AZ-9A626-A and D. I am sorry if this has caused any inconvenience. Thanks, Tom |
