During the 1969 model year Ford made the Shaker air cleaner an option on all Mach I Mustangs. They used a 428 CJ style base that had an extra ring welded to the top. Because they used a smaller diameter air cleaner that also sat lower on the carburetor, they needed a special longer snorkel that stepped up slightly. The 69 and 1970 snorkels are the same except the 69 has a 2 3/4 inch diameter hole for a metal heat stove and the 70 has a 2 inch hole for a paper hose from the heat stove. These snorkels also use the smaller flange where they mount to the air cleaner. The snorkel is about 8 7/8 inches long as measured.
