The 428 CJ snorkel was also used on most 68-70 428 Police Interceptor, Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet engines with closed, Ram Air, or Shaker air cleaners and 69 Mustang 390 IP with Shaker. The snorkel is easy to identify because of its distinctive step on the flange (see detail). The snorkel has a 2 3/4 inch hole on the bottom for the “S” tube and is approximately 10 inches long as shown (the parts book says 10 3/16, I have several and none were that long as measured). This snorkel is often confused with the 69 390 IP snorkel. The difference is the stepped ring welded on the hole on the bottom of the 390 IP snorkel to allow for a paper tube. The late 70 engines received a revised part with a smaller 2 inch hole for a paper hose as well.
