About the Hamburger Brothers
(Since this article was written, Elliott has moved to Tennessee.
Frank continues to perform with bassist Steve Orofino, who plays on the still-available Hamburger Brothers CD, and other regional
musicians.)
1982; a coffee house in Poughkeepsie, New York. Carrying a guitar and a banjo,
a pair of unknowns steps onto the stage. Within minutes, the audience is laughing, clapping, and
singing along as the pair goes through its set. A feeling of camaraderie overtakes the room. The two leave the stage to long
applause. The Hamburger Brothers Show is born!
Hundreds of performances later, Elliott Zucker
and Frank Tetler are still doing their combination of nonsense, nostalgia and musicianship.
On guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and voice, they bring you the songs of your youth, some you've never heard before, and
a sprinkling of evocative instrumentals. Their goal is not just to perform, but
to make the audience feel involved with the show. Applause is good; having the audience join you is better.
Members of Ramapo Fault String Band, this pair has performed
regularly for folk clubs, house parties, county fairs, family reunions, weddings, fund raising events, and even an air show.
Their talent has taken them to homes, churches, libraries, halls, and outdoor settings throughout the Southern
New York / Northern New Jersey / Eastern Pennsylvania region.
Elliott, who plays guitar, has an amazing memory for words, and can help you recall
songs you thought were long forgotten. Frank, playing fiddle, banjo and mandolin, has hundreds of tunes at his command, and
has a reputation as an arranger. They are often joined by Steve Orofino on bass, and other "cousins” from the Ramapo Fault String Band
family. Both sing, and their combined talents form a
perfect blend.
You may be aware of the slogan of the Hamburger Brothers - "Good Taste." Their appeal
is to all groups and ages - kids, adults and seniors have enjoyed them equally. As long as there are people who enjoy having
a good time together, the Hamburger Brothers will go on!

The “Hamburger
Brothers,” Elliott Zucker and Frank Tetler, presented a thoroughly entertaining and
delightful medley of popular songs well known to the audience. There were golden
oldies, melodies of the war years, country western and just fun tunes. From the
first opening chords of Anytime” to the last chorus of “Good Night Irene” everyone joined in the pleasure
of a sing-a-long punctuated by loud clapping, swaying of arms and bodies.
When these two fine musicians played the
“Pennsylvania Polka,” line dancers Rose K, Ethel M, Rhoda F and Peggy B demonstrated their expertise of this dance
to an appreciative audience.
Then Anne K and Bob C found an empty corner
to enjoy dancing to a familiar waltz. All the while Elliott played the guitar
and Frank alternated with his mandolin, banjo, and a fine violin dating back to 1906.
What a pleasurable experience!
Reluctantly this concert came to a close
with a rousing three cheers from the audience. Thank you so much “Hamburger
Brothers” you were great and this show will not soon be forgotten.
Betty H arranged for this duo to play at
our annual picnic on August 8 at Eddy Farm. Hip hip
hooray!
