Marti Tetler
Maker of cut - and - pierced lampshades and teacher of the craft. Trustee of The Historical Society
of Early American Decoration.

Marti Tetler began making lampshades in 1976, and opened her own studio within a year. Since
then she has studied Early american Decoration and Theorem Painting, and is a Brazer Guild Member of the Historical Society
of Early American Decoration. She brings over 30 years experience to her teaching, and has taught at craft schools,
historical and preservation societies, adult education programs, and for private groups. She is the author of Marti's
Lampshade Book, your guide to making your own shades.

In 1856, Godey's Ladies' Magazine
offered, "This simple and beautiful decoration . . . is universally admired for its fine effect . . . . The prettiest thing
of its kind we have seen, simple and inexpensive, yet wonderfully effective and beautiful . . . . It resembles one of the
