Japanese Natural Dyes

5_colors.jpg
gampi papers dyed in the most popular colors of the Heian period

Extracting dyes from plants and dyeing paper by hand is a time-consuming but rewarding process. All of the colored papers shown on this website are dyed with natural colorants. Lectures and workshops may be arranged upon request.
