Tell us something about the participant's ages, etc
There are 300-400 participants with an average adult rider age in the mid to upper forties. The age range has been 5 to 83 with approximately a 55/45 male to female ratio. There are typically 40-45 riders under 18.
Do I need my own tent?
Yes, but if you do not have one, consider borrowing one from Troop 15, Boy Scouts of America for a donation.
I never camped. Will someone help me pitch a tent?
We are planning to have Troop 15, Boy Scouts available to assist.
What is starting time?
Boston - check-in and gear loading is 7:15 am - 8:30 am.
Connellsville - check-in and gear loading is 11:15 am - 12:30 pm
What do I do for breakfast?
There will be coffee, juice, tea, hot chocolate, and light breakfast at the campground. Or, this year optional breakfast sandwiches (ham, egg,, cheese ) will be available at the campground for a donation of Two Dollars and fifty cents. Or, you can eat in a local restaurant such as Sister's Café.
Where do I park? What is cost?
There will be no charge for parking. In Boston, we will park near the trailhead and in Connellsville in the gravel trailhead parking lot. In late August, registrants will receive instructions in the mail.
How well do I have to ride?
We have assumed that riders can maintain an average speed of 8-12 miles/hour in order to make all rest stops, etc.
How many volunteers are there?
45-50 volunteers from 8-9 non-profit organizations.
What if I want to start in Connellsville and end in Boston or the other way around? Can I do that?
Yes, But. When you check in, you need to be sure to tell the person checking you in that you are doing this so that your gear can be appropriately handled for dropoff according to your wishes. You will need to make your own arrangements for transportation between the two points for car pickup etc. There is no shuttle service.
