Welcome to our Marketing Education Program website.  Marketing Education is a two year Vocational program at Taunton High School.

DECA - An Association of Marketing Students, is a "co-curricular" part of the Marketing Program.

Congress and the Mass. Dept. of Education recognize Vocational Student Organizations such as DECA, SkillsUSA, FFA, and others a vital part of Vocational Programs.

Students learn Marketing Theory in the classroom and can apply that theory in SCHOOL BASED ENTERPRISES within the classroom as their "Shop Experience".  SBE's are real business activities designed and run by the students.

Students who manage these SBE's can then write a Technical Report using National DECA guidelines and enter that report in DECA competition.  Our students have competed every year at the District and State Level, and have competed at the DECA International Competition many times.

For more information about DECA Competition please go to www.DECA.org.

We thank the people who serve on our Marketing Education BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
They meet twice a year and review how well our program is doing.  They give us ideas and business contacts, and several of them JUDGE at DECA District and State Conference.
We recently honored DIANA SHEARSTONE who just retired as the CEO of the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Diana has attended our BAC meetings for many years and has often sent us ideas and notes from things she sees in her travels.  When talking to business leaders, Diana would often refer them to us either to hire students or to support our program.
For her years of service, Mr. Medeiros recently awarded Diana Shearstone with a Special Award from National DECA.

Look for our new Business Links Page as we find ways to thank those who assist our students!

Taunton JAYCEES - Now WORKING with TigerDECA to share their internatioally recognized Leadership Training.

Ironically several current members of the Taunton JC's were former members of TigerDECA with Mr. Ferreira.  Also Mr. Medeiros, the current DECA Advisor is a JCI Senator and Past President of the Taunton JC's many years ago!

They have met with current DECA members and will work with our students to help them design and management our activities ranging from mini-projects to major events.

For two years we have worked with the Citywide PTO groups working on the Harlem Wizards Basketball games at THS.  DECA sold Wizard souvenirs to the 2000+ FANS.

We worked with several groups in the City including: Salute the Troops, Harvest Festival, Whittenton Kid Care Days, and the Christmas Parade (Our float earned a 3rd place Trophy).

E-mail Mr. Medeiros and please put DECA in the Subject line and we can try to work something out.
