HISTORICAL DATA Wristwatch was purchased by E. B., Sr. in Japan at PX while he served in the military.

In 1921, the Benrus Watch Company was founded in New York City by two brothers Benjamin and Russel Lazrus. They used the first three letters of their names to come up with the company name of "BEN-RUS.” During World War 2 they were one of the few companies who managed to produce watches for the civilian market. After the war, Benrus used their civilian market knowledge to their advantage and designed fashionable watches with stylish dials, bezels, cases and lug designs that sold in vast numbers. In the beginning of the 1950's, Benrus was the second largest watch producer in the United States, second only to Hamilton Watch Company.
