HISTORICAL DATA

Wristwatch was given to my mother for her high school graduation gift by her parents in 1956.

The National Watch Company was founded in 1864 with Benjamin W. Raymond as the President. The factory was located on 35 acres in Elgin, Ill. that was donated by the town's residents. The building was completed in 1865, and the first watches produced by this firm was in April 1867. The company's name was changed to The Elgin National Watch Company in 1874, and they produced watches up until 1964. After this date, they became the Elgin Time Division. Some of the organizers of the Elgin National Watch Co. came from the Waltham Watch Co..
