Eli Terry - Clockmaker of Connecticut

Hardbound, DJ, 276 pgs

Dust jacket shows some wear and tears.  Book is inscribed on first page, "For Josephine Terry with many thanks for your kind help, August, 1942 Leslie Allen Jones".  In addition, on the author's own stationery is a letter dated 4 March 1943 which reads:

Dear Miss Terry:
What you must think of me! I was so very sure that I had acknowledged your letter with the Eli Terry paper that I was at a loss to understand the postal department tracer that arrived at my door - and now I find your letter beneath a pile of correspondence on my desk. Please accept my apologies, and know that I wouldn't have had it happen for the world. I think the way of it was this. I spent three weeks abed with grip right after Xmas, and then my wife was down for a similar length of time - and then my play went into production and college closed due to oil heat shortage and I was nearly mad trying to keep it in rehearsal.  It's all over now - and I inclose (sic) a program - you will be interested to know that it revolved around a Terry shelf clock, and that I was able to borrow a real one for the setting.
Do you happen to know what has happened to J.E. Coleman of Nashville, Tennessee? I can't raise him by letter and I expect he's in the Navy again. Do you ever hear from him?  I shall treasure the Langdon bill. Am I right in reading it "To Balce of a/c" "To Balance of account"?
Sincerely,
Les Jones.
