Wednesday night we were
invited to a neighbor's home for dinner. They live only a short walk down our country road. So instead of going
to church, we thought it would be hospitable to visit this family. We went and had a lovely time visiting and my children
had fun playing with their children. Did I mention they have 9 children? 6 boys, 3 girls. Anyway, our host
mentioned that they had a Chigger problem in the play area, so we might want to apply some Off. So I applied
it to the children. We continued our visit near the play area, but
not in it.
Well, needless to say they
don't have a Chigger problem, they have an infestation!!!!!!!!! I have Chiggers head to toe, probably over 100 bites.
The kids must have been moving around too much because they only have about 10 bites each. So we are all itching, scratching
and being rather grumpy.
So last night, Tyler couldn't sleep b/c of the
bites, I was awake itching and then Ben woke up with a sore throat. So now you can add sleep deprivation to the list!
LOL I've got a doctor appt for Ben since it's a holiday weekend, I thought we should probably get in just in case.
So we are off to the doctor
and I plan to mention the bites in hopes for some suggestions for ME!!
Have a great day!

and Chiggers must have been part of the curse of the earth when Adam sinned."

Well, I'm doing better today. No more whining. We went yesterday to have my car windshield fixed and then
the body work will be done later in July. The deductible was not so bad, only $250 since it was non-collision accident.
We shopped around for a storage building yesterday and found one that was big enough for Tim's shop area and storage.
It is 24x12. Here's picture: It is a little different but you get the idea. It has a rolling door in the back and a double door in the front.
The windows are a little different too, and there's a window in the loft. It's scheduled to be delivered Saturday.
So the building takes over where the car payment left off for a few months. That's fine with me!
I also wanted to share some pics of the boys. Our digital camera is on the blink so I had to wait till I had some
recent pics developed to share. Here you go.
Ryan screaming while wearing my shoes
Ryan looking sweet and innocent.
Tyler in character for a local play production.
Tyler being his positive, smiling self.
Ben "jamin" getting ready to hit!
Ben looking very mischievous!
Hope you enjoyed the pics!
Be blessed!

Would you like some cheese with that whine?
Good evening,
Yesterday ended up being
just glorious. I did my daily routines and then scrapbooked for a while. Then, last night we hired a babysitter
and Tim and I went kayaking and then to dinner. After kayaking we went to his parent’s house and watched a beautiful
sunset on the lake. It was very peaceful. At dinner we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and ate outside
on the patio. It was quiet and a wonderful end to a great date night. Tim and I were grateful to get some much needed
alone time.
Well, today was going well
too. I did some scrapbooking. And while I was scrapbooking, Ben said very calmly, "There is an emergency, come
here now." Well, I doubted the "emergency" and I said, "Just tell me what's wrong." He said, "No you have to look."
So I did. Well, about 1 month ago we purchased a large outdoor tent from Sam's to house some of our outdoor equipment.
It was temporary until we could get a building of some sort. (We do not have a garage in our new house.)
Well, there were strong winds today, and despite the tent being well staked, it had blown over into the driveway. So
the kids and I went out and with some hard work, we disassembled the tent. It is broken beyond repair.
We came back in and the
boys and I played a game of Pirates of the Caribbean Life and I noticed that the satellite system was not working. I
thought it was because of the windy weather. So we popped in a DVD and watched a movie. When the movie was finished
the satellite was still not working. So I decided to take a look. Well the tent must have hit the satellite on
the roof before it went out into the drive. But as I looked closer, I realized my minivan was also damaged. The
tent shattered the front window, dented the right front quarter panel, tore off and shattered my passenger side mirror, and
scratched down the right side of the van. Did I mention that my car is PAID OFF NEXT MONTH? I was/am devastated. I'm
trying to remain calm and see how God is going to "work everything together for good."
So now, we will need to
get a building, pay our deductible for the car, be out a car while the van is being repaired, etc. I just feel bad for
Tim. I’m sure you all experience this (please tell me you do), just when you
are getting ahead, or you make plans for something, there is something like this that comes along and messes them all up. Waaaaahhh!
So there I can whine with
the best of them. As I tell my kids regularly, “Would you like some cheese with
that whine?”
Jennifer, who is hoping
her car is not totaled.

Good Saturday Morning!
I got up this morning and
now I'm wondering what I'm going to do. You have to know me to understand how bizarre this question is for me.
I am a very task oriented person who occasionally throws aside common sense for the sake of completing a task.
Baby and bath water come to mind. Anyway, the house is cleaned, the laundry is done, I changed the sheets
on the beds yesterday, there are no groceries that need to be bought, and I'm not in the mood to lay around, so
I'm thinking....a whole Saturday, what to do? Many things come to mind, but most involve a great deal of money. LOL So
I will exhibit restraint in my decision process, but who knows what we'll do today.
So with my extra time I
watched a video that a friend sent to me. I also saw this guy on the Today Show
recently. "It's called the Evolution of Dance" and you think you will watch it for just
a few seconds and then minutes later you find yourself playing it again! Very funny if you have time….

Good morning!
I officially feel like
summer has begun (the summer solstice was yesterday so I guess I'm right on target). We have our calendar clear and
I'm ready for sleeping late, going swimming, and finding great local day trips for the family. Now for you homeschooling
families, we are still doing a small amount (30 minutes a day) of school work and some summer reading to keep the
skills up over the summer. And for you moms, the laundry, bills, housekeeping and meals are still getting done too.
Um...this is a break?
The duties of life still
need tending, but it's what you do in between those duties that make it worth living. It reminds me of an Oreo
cookie. It's the cream that makes the cookie great. So I'm focusing on those in between times and making
them memorable for the summer of 2006.
For my friends, try and
carve out some time this week for some family fun. It may be only 30 minutes here or there, but it will build your relationship
with your kids for a lifetime. Take a pajama trip (your kids not you) to the store after bedtime for late
night ice cream. Take the kids for a surprise trip to a local park while you are out doing errands. Set up the
sprinklers and let the kids play, and if you are really brave, you run through them too. Pick out an adventurous chapter
book from the library and read it to them each night snuggled up in bed.
There are so many things
that are free or inexpensive to do with our kids that make memories and make your kids feel that they are special and loved. For
me it makes those loads of laundry seem not so daunting. I hurry to get them done so we can get back to our special
times of the summer of 2006.

Well, I'm back from camp. It
was fun for me to do something away from home and my kids. Even though I was around children, I was in my old career
mode, a nurse. I was quite busy giving all the scheduled medications and bandaging the boo-boos. I felt needed
and wanted and that is always a self-esteem booster. While I like being home
with my children, it’s nice to see that as a nurse, I’ve still “got it”. J
Yesterday was father’s
day and we went to my in-laws home with my dad and his wife. We had a good visit
and dinner. Tim and I made a collage of photos for each dad, and I wrote a list
of why I love my dad and included it with my collage. Here’s what I wrote:
Why I love my dad
Father’s Day 2006
He always loves me.
He taught me about Jesus.
He writes me little love notes.
He talks to me every morning.
He went to all my sports games.
He is a support in all that I do.
He comes to the rescue.
He tells me the truth.
He rode the big rides
at Six Flags with me.
He likes ice cream.
He taught me to drive a car.
He loves Tim and my boys.
He can fix anything.
He is my friend.
I love you dad.
~Jennifer~
It
was rather simple and short but nevertheless, things that I remember the most about my dad and things that I love about him
today. I am thankful for him.
Also, I am getting things
ready to accomplish some of the goals I set out for myself and the kids for summer. In
the midst of this, dinner, and general housework is still planned but I’m looking for ways to add time to our long summer
afternoons without heating up the kitchen. So I’m re-initiating my Flylady daily
schedule and using the crock pot more often. Here is one of my favorite easy
and delicious recipes for the crock pot:
Crock Pot Enchiladas
12 corn tortillas 1
to 1.5 lbs. ground beef, browned and drained 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can diced tomatoes with chilies (Rotel brand
is best) 1 can Ranch style beans (aka Texas style beans) 2 cups shredded cheese
Mix
all three cans (do not drain) with the ground beef. Spread just a spoonful of the mixture on the bottom of the crock. Cover
the bottom with four tortillas, 1/3 of the meat mixture, 1/3 of the cheese. Do two more layers of tortillas, meat mixture,
and cheese. Cover and cook on low for three to four hours. Uncover and let sit for 10 minutes and serve. Dish can be garnished
with sour cream, guacamole, and/or black olives.
Be blessed! ~J~

Warning: If you read today’s blog you might get your feet stepped on. I recommend steel toe shoes or a willingness to move your feet!
The “End of the Year Party” was
a big hit. The children did their program beautifully and I was so blessed by
them. The sign language song was especially touching to me, probably, because
it is an attempt on their part to communicate with their brother. All the
grandparent’s were present for the program and they all were impressed with how much the boys had learned over the last year. We had all their folders and notebooks out for everyone to see in addition to their
30 minute performance. As I drag across the finish line this year in homeschooling,
this party was a breath of fresh air. In a evening I was able to see just how
far we came this year, and hear the accolades of family who commended my hard work.
It is such a blessing to have
supportive parents (Tim and my parents) while homeschooling. Not many families
have such a strong support system. They love us; they love our children; and they support us all the way. I’m
not sure I could do it without their love, support and help. It is a thing rarely
seen today. So if any of my or Tim’s parents are reading this today. I love you and thank you.
On Sunday we took Tyler to camp. When we arrived, it was brought to my attention that they were missing an afternoon/evening
nurse for this week. So I have been filling in this week. At first I was overwhelmed by the change in schedule so quickly, but with the help of my family (again
thank you) I was able to go and help the church. There are about 75 kids at the
church camp this week. I’ve enjoyed bandaging, patting, hugging, and praying
for all of them.
The one thing that I’ve been
most touched by is the worship service in the evening. Just to watch all those
children open their hearts in worship to Jesus is incredible. You can truly feel
God’s presence. Children have no agenda, they for the most part have to baggage
and they are innocent and pure when they worship the Lord. Adults could learn
from them. I am.
This week’s camp focus is “Free
to Be Me.” They are encouraging the children move away from the pop culture and
the pressure for them to look, feel, and act the same as everyone else, and instead look at their God given strengths and
talents; embrace them and use them for the Lord. God has a purpose and plan for
each child, and it is different that anyone else.
As I was listening last night
during the service, I thought , “what is in my own life that is different than others?”
“How can I make a difference?” I know that having Ryan and dealing with
challenges that most people never encounter is different. I feel like God is
calling me to reach out to other moms and families that have children with special needs and encourage them that no matter
the disability, God has a purpose for them, and their child. They can change
the world, they can have impact , they are important too. I’m not sure where
I fit or where to go but I definitely feel that this is something that I have to offer and I’m praying about what to do next.
So I ask you today, are you “Free
to Be Me?” Are you looking at what makes you different? Are you using the gifts God has given you? Or are you just
fitting in? They say that the average
person touches and can change 10,000 people’s lives. How do you want to change
them? Are you making a difference for Christ? I want to change them for good,
for Christ, forever.
If you want me to pray for you,
encourage you or tell me how you are being “Free to Be Me” email me at Jenny29.11@verizon.net

A friend of mine had this pic on her blog and I thought it was so funny.
We are getting ready for the "End of the School Year" party today. The boys are practicing their Bible verses, songs,
sign language, and science experiments to get ready. I am making out a folded program to hand out. It sounds very
fancy for only 8 people, but it's a big deal to the boys to show off all their hard work. As homeschoolers, it is a
challenge to make sure there is enough encouragement and compliments paid to the children for their dedication. This
is their turn to shine! I'm looking forward to it.
I also have to get that ever growing Tyler some new clothes today!
He is going to camp soon and he barely has anything that fits. Last years shorts have some knobby knees sticking out...and
that's just not cool.
We are also looking forward to tonight, Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Go Mavericks! We are having burgers and veggies on the grill. Then we will relax for the game.
I also wanted to report a praise! There are some homeschooling boys
that live down the street from us. They are from a family on NINE children. Wow! Anyway, three of the boys are
close to Tyler and Ben's ages. Two of them rode their bikes over to play yesterday. My boys had a wonderful
time and the neighbor boys were so well behaved and such a blessing. I am looking forward to developing the relationship
with this family. Thank you God for such a wonderful gift to our boys!
Have a great summer Thursday! ~J

Well, I made it through the busy weekend. Ben finished off his baseball season
with the playoffs. They came in fourth for the entire league of 7-8 year olds. Pretty good considering there are
several dozen teams. We were proud of them and I was exceptionally thankful for our coach this season. He was
so positive and really brought out the best in each player and encouraged them to improve. He is one of those coaches
that every mom wishes for! LOL
And of course, the Mavs won the series!!!! Woo Hoo! To the finals we
go. The boys (big and little) love watching the games. My dad came over for one of games and I enjoyed visiting
and watching with him. It was nice to have some father-daughter time.
Also, we went to see "Over The Hedge" last night and the Olin boys give it 2 big thumbs up. One mommy gives it a "this is hilarious" rating.
It was a great weekend. Oh yes, one dear mommy moment...when Ben was playing
with Ryan, Ben said to Ryan, "I really love you Ryan, you are the best little brother in the world." My heart melted. I
will remember this moment when Ben is purposefully irritating his older brother by singing Queen's "We
will, we will, ROCK YOU!" at the top of his lungs while Tyler is concentrating on his favorite TV program. Oh boys....the
are interesting.
