Council meeting night is the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 P.M. The 1st Thursday is the regular meeting night. The 3rd Thursday is social night.
In 1915 the first three degrees of the Knights of Columbus were conferred on a Garrett class by district deputy Dr. E. J. McOscar of Fort Wayne. The charter for Father August Young Council 1790 was granted to eighty-two members.
The council is named after Father August Young, who was founder and pastor of St. Joesph Parish. The Father August Young Council works closely with the
St. Joesph Parish in Garrett, St. Mary's Parish in Avilla, St. John Bosco Parish in Churubusco, and Immaculate Conception in Ege, providing
funds for various projects, members being active participants in their
parish. etc.
