The Liberty, a Boston Clipper Ship

Named for their speed in the late 1840’s and early 1850’s, clipper ships could cross the Atlantic in less than two weeks “clipping” the time taken transport highly prized cargoes. The clipper ship Flying Cloud set a record of 89 days from New York to Claifornia via Cape Horn that stood for over 130 years. Originally built in the shipyards of New England these ships were graceful and fast, each unique and works of art.

Ch Lonetree's C. Quill Gordon CD WCI and our Cayuga's Ipswich Bonnie CGC have produced two wonderful litters. We kept two pups from the second mating. because we could not decide which was the best pup.  Now we are raising both and they have each earned their place at Driftwood Kennel.  Clipper is our first male and, we must admit, there is a difference between the sexes.  Clipper has been a dream to teach the ropes.  He has non of the strong stubborn independence we have seen in the girls, but he has all of their drive and more.

At a young age Driftwood's Coastal Clipper is living up to his namesake.  At nine months of age, Clipper already has his working certificate, showing promise of performance to come. He is fast, bright, bold, and brazen. His sister, Driftwood's Headwind Hedy is not far behind him.   Actually, she may be the better field dog.  Now that she is past her first heat, she is more focussed
